Pistolteatern was the most experimental theatre space in Sweden in the 1960s. Reaching back to the physical theatre of Antonin Artaud and to the burgeoning culture of happenings and Fluxus events, the founders of the theatre, Staffan Olzon and Pi Lind, as along with their collaborators, explored new media technologies and alternative performative modes in the search for a theatre that confronted the transformations of society and culture in the late twentieth century. In this essay the formative years of the Pistolteatern are discussed in to the context of other avant-garde activities in Sweden during the 1960s. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
