The study was conducted to compare the incidence and severity of dehydration in newborns admitted during warmer and cooler months. 55 out of 941 (5.8%) neonates were admitted with dehydration during the study duration. Dehydration warranting medical support was common in both cooler and warmer months of the year. 26 (47.2%) neonates were admitted in the cooler months and 29 (52.7%) in the warmer months. The severity of dehydration was marginally higher in warmer months (P = 0.09). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
