The slow evaporation solution growth approach was utilized to effectively synthesis and produce semi-organic nonlinear optical single-crystal dichloro bis l-valine zinc (II) (DCBVZ). Using nucleation kinetics, the growth condition was tuned. X-ray diffraction investigations were used to determine the cell parameter. Using SEM, EDAX, and AFM methods, the microstructure of the produced crystal as well as the presence of different components in the crystal were investigated. The presence of functional groups in the title substance is confirmed by FTIR and NMR spectrum investigations. The UV–vis–NIR spectrum was used to determine the optical characteristics of the title material, such as optical bandgap and UV cut-off wavelength. Through the use of TG/DTA investigations, the crystal's thermal stability has been examined. According to Kurtz and Perry's powder method experimentation on nonlinear optics, the SHG conversion efficiency of DCBVZ crystal is determined to be 1.2 times more than that of KDP.
