This edited volume, titled "War schön. Kann weg... Alter(n) in der Darstellenden Kunst" and edited by Angie Hiesl and Roland Kaiser, explores the visibility of ageing performers in the German-speaking performing arts discourse. The book includes sixteen contributions from performers, curators, and researchers, addressing age(ing) from artistic, scientific, curatorial, and cultural political perspectives. It advocates for intergenerational solidarity in the performing arts scene and calls for systemic changes in cultural politics and generational exchange. The book challenges stereotypical perspectives on age and gender norms by highlighting the experiences and contributions of older performers. [Extracted from the article] |
