Abstrakt: | A recent study conducted by researchers at New York University (NYU) explored the relationship between manometric esophagogastric junction (EGJ) metrics and esophageal acid exposure in patients with acid reflux disease. The study involved a retrospective review of 284 patients who underwent high-resolution manometry (HRM) and ambulatory reflux testing. The findings indicated that EGJ contractile integral (EGJ-CI) can independently predict pathologic acid exposure. However, the study also revealed a weak correlation between EGJ-CI and acid exposure, suggesting that other factors may influence acid exposure in addition to EGJ barrier function.
