A recent study conducted by researchers at Huazhong University in Wuhan, China, explored the potential of traditional Chinese medicine in treating respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections. The researchers found that Xuanfei Formula (XFF), a traditional Chinese medicine, exhibited anti-RSV efficacy by inhibiting the cholesterol synthesis process mediated by SREBP2. This resulted in reduced RSV replication and inflammation in the lungs of infected mice. The study suggests that XFF could be a promising intervention for RSV infections, which currently lack feasible and cost-effective treatments. [Extracted from the article] |
