Anthrax outbreaks have occurred in Nigeria, affecting both livestock and humans. The disease is caused by the bacterium Bacillus anthracis and can be transmitted through contaminated animals or items. Prompt antibiotic treatment is effective, but untreated cases can be fatal. The Nigerian government has implemented initiatives to protect livestock and public health, including free vaccination programs and movement restrictions on affected farms. In addition, measures such as public awareness campaigns, communication networks, and collaboration with neighboring regions are being utilized to control the spread of anthrax.
