Abstrakt: This article presents a case study of an 18-month-old German Shorthaired Pointer dog with symptoms of lethargy, coughing, and vomiting. The dog underwent a CBC using the Sysmex XN-V hematology analyzer, which revealed an additional cluster on the white blood cell differential scattergram. Manual gating and blood smear examination confirmed that the cluster was composed mainly of basophils, leading to a diagnosis of basophilia. The article discusses the limitations of hematology analyzers in detecting basophils in canine blood and emphasizes the importance of confirming basophilia with a blood smear examination. The cause of the basophilia in this case was not determined. [Extracted from the article]
