Abstrakt: This article discusses the radiologic diagnosis of prevalent osteoporotic vertebral fractures (OVFs) on radiographs. The authors propose an interim consensus on the criteria for diagnosing OVF, focusing on older women and men. They note that there is no gold standard for distinguishing OVF from nonosteoporotic vertebral fractures (VFs). The article provides information on fracture-shaped vertebral deformity (FSVD) and osteoporotic-like vertebral fractures (OLVF), as well as differential diagnoses for OLVF. The authors suggest criteria for diagnosing osteoporosis based on OLVF in older women and men. They also recommend clear methodology for grading vertebral height loss in research. Overall, the article aims to provide guidance on the radiologic diagnosis of prevalent OVF. [Extracted from the article]
