Women experience menopause between ages 45 and 50. Menopause causes hormonal changes such as estrogen deficiency which can cause menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, sleep disturbances, anxiety, and joint and muscle problems. The hormone estrogen does not only affect reproductive conditions but also plays a role in human oral conditions. This study aims to determine the relationship between the severity of menopausal symptoms and the number of remaining teeth and denture treatment needs in patients at RSGM UMY. Ninety-three participants consisting of 93 menopausal women ≥ 45 years were given an oral cavity examination to assess the number of remaining teeth and the need for denture treatment, as well as filling out the MRS questionnaire using interview techniques. The data obtained was then analyzed by means of multiple correlation tests using SPSS software version 20. There was a significant relationship between the three variables tested with the Sig. F Change < 0.05 (0.000) with a strong relationship (R square = 0.287). Based on the results of the MRS questionnaire, menopause symptoms that often appeared in respondents were sleep disturbances (58.06%), joint and muscle problems (90.3%), and fatigue (92.4%). The average FTU score of the respondents was 5.40. Based on the category of denture care needs, the majority of respondents belonged to moderate category (lost 5-9 teeth) with 33 people (35.5%). The severity of menopausal symptoms has a significant relationship with the number of remaining teeth and the need for denture treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
