Researchers from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture have published a study on the co-infection of malaria and Zika virus disease. The study proposes a new model that incorporates vaccination, treatment, and vector control using sterile-insect technology (SIT) to control the diseases. The researchers found that effective treatment of infectious humans, increased vaccination rates, and the use of sterile-insect techniques can significantly help control both diseases and their co-infection. The study emphasizes the importance of controlling the spread of malaria and Zika virus disease in both human and mosquito populations. [Extracted from the article] |
