A research study conducted by the University of Gdansk in Poland explores the interactions between fullerenes and proteins. Fullerenes, specifically C60, have unique properties that make them potential candidates for drug delivery and nanomedicine. The study integrates explicit and implicit C60 models into the UNRES force field, allowing for the investigation of fullerene-protein interactions without the need for restraints. The research findings demonstrate distinct interaction patterns between fullerenes and different proteins, and the integration of these models provides a powerful framework for studying protein-nanoparticle interactions at biologically relevant scales. This research can contribute to the design of nanomaterials for biomedical applications. [Extracted from the article] |
