A clinical trial conducted in Amravati, India investigated the effectiveness of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) as an adjunct to conventional scaling and root planing (SRP) in non-surgical periodontal therapy. The trial involved 13 patients and 26 periodontal pocket sites, with the test group receiving PRF alongside SRP and the control group receiving SRP alone. The results showed that the SRP+PRF group had statistically significant improvements in clinical attachment loss, probing pocket depths, and gingival recession compared to the SRP alone group. The study concluded that PRF placement is effective in reducing pocket depths and minimizing tissue morbidity, potentially reducing the number of periodontal treatment sessions needed for pocket closure.
