A research study conducted at Kuang-Tien General Hospital in Taichung, Taiwan, has found that head and neck mucosal melanoma, a rare and aggressive tumor, can regrow rapidly after surgical removal. The study describes the case of a 53-year-old male patient with this type of melanoma who experienced rapid tumor regrowth after surgery. However, treatment with pembrolizumab, an immunotherapy drug, resulted in a gradual decrease in tumor volume and complete remission. The study suggests that combining pembrolizumab with localized radiation therapy may offer the possibility of long-term remission for this type of melanoma. [Extracted from the article] |
