Abstrakt: This article reports the first record of Moroccan watermelon mosaic virus (MWMV) on Solanum nigrum L. (black nightshade) in Türkiye. Black nightshade is a common weed species in irrigated vegetable areas and can act as a host for viral diseases. The increase in aphid populations in Türkiye, likely due to climate change, has led to an increase in aphid-borne viruses in vegetable crops. The study detected MWMV infections in black nightshade plants collected from squash fields in Aksaray province. The sequence analysis of the virus showed similarity to MWMV isolates from Turkey and Greece. This research was supported by Selçuk University Scientific Research Projects Coordinator.
