Synthetic cannabinoids are defined as psychoactive substances that trigger the endocannabinoid system. Despite attempts to utilize some of their effects for therapeutic purposes, they are predominantly used as recreational drugs. In the past decade, their recreational use has increased more than other psychoactive substances in Europe and the United States. In Turkey, they are referred to as "Bonzai" or "Jamaika." Additionally, factors such as stronger effects compared to cannabis, cost-effectiveness, easy accessibility, and evasion of standard drug tests contribute to the growing use of synthetic cannabinoids. This paper aims to examine the structure and toxicology of synthetic cannabinoids, along with diagnosis and treatment, in line with current literature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
