Abstrakt: This article presents a descriptive study on antimicrobial resistance to Klebsiella pneumoniae in a hospital in northeastern Romania. The study focuses on the prevalence of Klebsiella pneumoniae as the most frequent etiological agent of healthcare-associated infections in the study. The results show high levels of multidrug resistance and extended-spectrum beta-lactamase production in Klebsiella pneumoniae strains. The article also discusses other studies that highlight the increasing challenge of managing infections caused by antibiotic-resistant K. pneumoniae and the risk factors associated with acquiring a carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae bloodstream infection in a hospital setting. These findings emphasize the importance of surveillance, infection control measures, and appropriate antibiotic therapy in healthcare-associated infections. [Extracted from the article]
