Abstrakt: The main means of providing access to the results of scientific research are considered. The reasons for the unavailability of scientific publications to scientists are analyzed, the process of the formation of the idea of open access is described, and the current state of affairs regarding the publication of scientists' achievements in open access is reviewed.
