Abstrakt: In this paper, we show the efficacy of Unequal Error Protection (UEP) for data communication using punctured convolutional codes. We have considered PCM and numeric data types to analyse the performance of Unequal Error Protection scheme as compared to the conventional scheme. The performance is evaluated in terms of the decoding error distribution and the word error rate (WER) under Gaussian noise for both the schemes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
