A recent report from Timisoara, Romania discusses the diagnosis of small bowel tumors using motorized spiral enteroscopy (MSE). Small bowel tumors are relatively rare but their incidence is increasing. The case study presented in the report describes a patient with a metastatic tumor of the small bowel originating from primary lung adenocarcinoma. The initial investigations failed to identify the bleeding source, but MSE allowed for visualization and biopsy of the tumor. The research concludes that MSE is an efficient method for diagnosing small bowel tumors, providing higher insertion depth in a reduced amount of time. [Extracted from the article] |
