Researchers from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer-Sheva, Israel have made advancements in nanotechnology by developing a specific and label-free bioFET sensing method for the interaction between the electrically neutral small estriol molecule and its antibody. Estriol is an important molecule used in mid-gestation screening for Down syndrome. The researchers used a meta-nano-channel (MNC) bioFET with anti-estriol antibodies to detect estriol in diluted plasma samples. The MNC bioFET demonstrated real-time, specific, and label-free sensing of estriol with excellent sensitivity and a limit of detection of 1 fg mL-1. This research has potential applications in point-of-care testing for aneuploidy mid-gestation screening. [Extracted from the article] |
