A recent study conducted by researchers from the University of Florida College of Medicine compared the severity of injuries caused by golf carts (GCs) and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) in children. The study found that both GC and ATV injuries increased over a 5-year period. Contrary to popular belief, GC injuries were found to have a similar injury burden to ATV injuries, with both types of vehicles resulting in similar rates of intensive care unit admission, immediate surgery needs, and mortality. The researchers suggest that heightened safety measures for GCs should be considered. [Extracted from the article] |
