Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by the University of Missouri examined the barriers faced by clinicians in addressing pediatric and adolescent obesity and the role of electronic health record (EHR) tools in overcoming these barriers. The study found that clinicians felt the current healthcare system and available EHR tools do not adequately support pediatric weight management. The study identified several themes for improving EHR weight management tools, including improving clinical efficiency, supporting patient-centered communication, improving patient continuity between visits, reducing documentation burdens, and trusting real-time patient data. The researchers concluded that involving clinicians in the development and testing of EHR weight management tools can address these barriers and improve the use of EHRs. [Extracted from the article]
