A recent report from Ehime University Hospital in Japan discusses a case of pediatric neurogenic pulmonary edema (NPE) following the removal of a brain tumor. NPE is a rare complication that can occur after neurological insults, such as traumatic brain injury. In this case, a 6-year-old boy developed NPE along with left ventricular dysfunction and severe myocardial injury. The report emphasizes the importance of monitoring cardiac biomarkers, such as BNP, in pediatric patients with NPE to ensure a return to normal values. The research has been peer-reviewed and published in The American Journal of Case Reports. [Extracted from the article] |
