Researchers at Cairo University have conducted a study on colon cancer, specifically focusing on the association between a specific genetic marker and the risk of obesity-related colorectal cancer. The study found that a certain genetic variant, known as MEG3 rs941576, was associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer. Additionally, the study identified potential biomarkers, including miR-27a and IGF1, that could be used for early detection and diagnosis of obesity-related colorectal cancer. The findings suggest that this genetic marker and biomarkers could be valuable tools for both detecting and prognosing obesity-related colorectal cancer. [Extracted from the article] |
