Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Aleppo focused on the cases of acute watery diarrhea (AWD) during a cholera outbreak in Syria. The study included 1,061 patients admitted to Aleppo University Hospital (AUH) between September and October 2022. The data collected revealed that a majority of patients were from urban areas, and potential sources of infection included uncontrolled well water, vegetables, and contaminated street/fast food. Most patients were discharged in good health, with the most common complications being electrolyte imbalance and severe dehydration. The study emphasized the importance of preventative measures such as improving water sanitation and hygiene practices to prevent future outbreaks and alleviate strain on healthcare systems.
