A recent study conducted by researchers at Czech Technical University Prague explores the use of bioprinting technology in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The study focuses on the bioprinting of high-concentrated collagen bioinks, which have shown promise due to collagen's abundance in the extracellular matrix of many tissues and its biocompatibility. The researchers developed a culture system that allows for the flow of collagen bioinks in the culture medium, enhancing the elimination of nutrients and metabolites of cells. The study found that active medium perfusion significantly improved cell viability and activity in the high-concentrated gel, addressing a major challenge in using these hydrogels.
