A study conducted at Linyi Central Hospital in Shandong, China explored the correlation between the PSEN1 E280A mutation and clinical characteristics of glioma-related seizures (GRS). The researchers collected brain tissue samples from 40 patients diagnosed with glioneuronal tumors (GNTs) and analyzed the presence of the PSEN1 E280A mutation. They found that the mutation was detected in 44% of patients with gangliogliomas (GGs) and 33.3% of patients with dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumors (DNTs). The mutation was more prevalent in females and was associated with multiple types of seizures. The researchers concluded that further studies with larger sample sizes and long-term follow-up are needed for confirmation. [Extracted from the article] |
