Abstrakt: This article discusses the issue of iron deficiency in phytoplankton in the Southern Ocean. Phytoplankton require iron to grow and thrive, but the Southern Ocean lacks sufficient iron. This is due to the oxidation of iron in the ocean and the isolation of the Southern Ocean from nearby sources of iron. Climate change and melting ice may impact the availability of iron soup for phytoplankton. The article encourages young scientists to study this issue further. [Extracted from the article]
