Abstrakt: The article discusses the ongoing project called Monitoring and Analysis of Plastic Pollution in Aquatic Environments (MappA) in Argentina, which aims to comprehensively understand the presence, characteristics, and distribution of microplastics in freshwater bodies. Led by Dr. Maria B. Alfonso from Kyushu University in Japan, the project involves 51 experts from 31 institutes and research centers across Argentina. The study sites cover a wide range of ecosystems and human impact, providing valuable insights into the challenges posed by microplastic pollution. The research aims to inform policy, conservation efforts, and raise public awareness about the issue, ultimately promoting sustainable practices and protecting freshwater resources.
