The article offers insights on decreasing the environmental impact of ophthalmic surgeries in 2024. Topics discussed include the need to reduce trash from operating room (OR) procedures, and the possible multiple use of topical drugs, reduction of packaging, manufacturing of reusable instruments, and streamlining of production and distribution systems. Also noted is the identification of contributing factors to the carbon footprint of cataract surgery. |
