A recent study conducted by researchers at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, explored the implementation and outcomes of a pilot collaborative surgical hydrocele training program in Côte d'Ivoire. Hydrocele is a condition associated with lymphatic filariasis, a neglected tropical disease. The study found that hydrocele surgery had a positive impact on the quality of life of patients, with improvements reported in daily activities, work, economic situation, social interactions, and sex life. The researchers concluded that there is a need for support to scale up surgical capacity for this neglected problem. [Extracted from the article] |
