A recent study conducted at Taichung Veterans General Hospital in Taiwan explored the association between metabolic syndrome (MS) and cognitive impairment, specifically focusing on sex disparities. The study found that MS was significantly associated with cognitive impairment in women, but not in men. In women, MS was particularly associated with impairments in orientation, memory, and design copying. The findings suggest that sex plays a significant role in the relationship between MS and cognitive dysfunction, highlighting the importance of considering gender differences in research and treatment approaches.
