Researchers from Taras Shevchenko National University Kyiv have published a report in the field of chemistry, focusing on the development of tetrahydropentalene-2,5-dione (2,5-THP-dione) derivatives as potential building blocks for medicinal chemistry. The study aimed to create complex molecular structures for drug discovery and highlighted the value of 2,5-THP-dione and tetrahydropentalene derivatives in synthetic chemistry. The researchers successfully synthesized a number of alkylated derivatives and a monofunctional ketone using optimized protocols, obtaining target compounds with high yields on a multigram scale.
