Researchers from Fatima Jinnah Medical University have conducted a study on acute kidney injury (AKI) in septic patients. AKI is a common complication among septic patients, and early recognition is crucial for better prognosis and reduced hospital stay. The study focused on the use of plasma Neutrophil Gelatinase Associated Lipocalin (pNGAL) levels as a biomarker for early detection of septic AKI. The results showed that pNGAL levels were significantly higher in septic patients who developed AKI compared to those who did not. This research provides valuable insights into the potential use of pNGAL as a biomarker for septic AKI. [Extracted from the article] |
