Abstrakt: A study conducted by researchers at the University of Eastern Piedmont in Novara, Italy, examined the role of genetic polymorphisms in the response to dabigatran, an anticoagulant, in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). The study found that the ABCB1 rs4148738 CT heterozygous genotype was associated with reduced anticoagulant activity of dabigatran at the trough in patients receiving a higher dose regimen. The findings suggest that genetic factors may influence the effectiveness of dabigatran in treating AF. Further research is needed to better understand the relationship between genetic polymorphisms and drug response in patients with AF. [Extracted from the article]
