A study conducted at Metropolitan Hospital in Piraeus, Greece, compared endovascular treatment (EVT) to best medical therapy (BMT) for large-vessel occlusion acute ischemic stroke (AIS). The study analyzed systematic reviews and meta-analyses of randomized-controlled clinical trials (RCTs) to evaluate the efficacy and safety of EVT. The results showed that EVT was associated with improved functional outcomes, increased chance of survival, and reduced mortality rates, despite an increased risk of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage. This research provides valuable evidence for the use of EVT in patients with AIS due to large-vessel occlusion. [Extracted from the article] |
