Abstrakt: A study conducted at Shanghai Tongji Hospital in China explored the role of NEK2, a protein involved in cell division, in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). The researchers found that NEK2 is highly expressed in ESCC tissues and cells and is associated with poor tumor healing. Knockdown of the NEK2 gene inhibited the migration, proliferation, and invasion of ESCC cells. Additionally, NEK2 was found to be involved in biological processes related to the progression and apoptosis of esophageal cancer and was associated with immune infiltration. The study suggests that NEK2 may play a role in mediating ESCC immunotherapy. [Extracted from the article]
