A new report from New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital describes a rare case of mesenteric fibromatosis, also known as an intra-abdominal desmoid tumor. The tumor, although histologically benign, can become locally invasive and cause significant morbidity and mortality. The case involved a 52-year-old West African male who presented with symptoms of intermittent hematochezia and bloating. The tumor was successfully excised, and the report emphasizes the importance of recognizing uncommon presentations of mesenteric fibromatosis for early diagnosis and treatment to prevent complications.
