This article, published in the Oxford Medical Case Reports, discusses a rare case of cutaneous implantation metastasis of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) following fine needle aspiration (FNA). The patient, a 57-year-old male, initially presented with an anterior neck mass and underwent FNA, which resulted in a cervical hematoma. One month later, total thyroidectomy revealed PTC in the left thyroid gland with lymphatic invasion. The patient later developed multiple subcutaneous nodules along the right side of the neck, which were confirmed to be skin metastasis of PTC. The article highlights the rarity of this complication and emphasizes the need for physicians to be vigilant of hemorrhagic complications in high-risk patients. [Extracted from the article] |
