International trade role in the solution of the global food problem is substantiated in the article. A number of problems in developing the international food trade is identified, its dynamics trends are determined. We substantiated its improvement ways, which are related to the necessity of perfecting the conditions of trade and its structure, providing more favorable conditions of access to the world food market by improving its regulation mechanism. The economic dimensions of the countries' food situation and international trade mechanisms for strengthening their food security are comprehensively analyzed. The results of the author survey concerning the estimates of malnutrition prevalence in some countries and the impact of international trade of agricultural products on the level of food security in countries.
