Gaindaphodius gainda, a new genus and new species of the tribe Aphodiini from the Terai of Nepal, is described and illustrated. This new genus is compared with the most morphologically similar genera Aphodius Hellwig, 1798 and Rhodaphodius Ádám, 1994. The characteristic apomorphy of the new genus seems to be the presence of a brush of fine, short setae bearing a fine yellowish waxy coating of unclear function on the abdominal ventrite 2 in females.
