Abstrakt: A medical teacher and GP contrasts the imperative to be resilient with the invitation to flourish. In medical education experiences that help students humanise the patient can humanise the student too. This reciprocal 'flourishing effect 'can enhance understanding of other people's worlds and viewing points. Creative enquiry opens up a flourishing space to explore lived experience through the arts.
