Abstrakt: New research from Lomonosov Moscow State University explores the molecular mechanisms involved in drug resistance in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells. The study focuses on the changes observed in the cytoplasmic actin isoforms and their impact on tumor progression. The researchers found that taxol-resistant TNBC cells exhibited a shift towards g-actin predominance, increased motility and invasive properties, and altered tubulin isotype expression. Additionally, the study revealed that taxol-resistant cells underwent epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and exhibited increased positive regulation of cell migration, hormone response, cell-substrate adhesion, and actin filament-based processes. The findings suggest that prolonged exposure to taxol and acquisition of taxol resistance may lead to pro-metastatic changes in TNBC cells. [Extracted from the article]
