A recent study conducted at a tertiary care center in Kathmandu, Nepal, has found that detrusor wall thickness (DWT) measured through transabdominal ultrasound can be a cost-effective and noninvasive tool for assessing the severity of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in males with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The study included 171 patients with LUTS who underwent DWT measurements, and the results showed a strong correlation between DWT and LUTS severity. The researchers concluded that transabdominal ultrasound-detected DWT can be a valuable tool for evaluating LUTS severity in males with BPH. [Extracted from the article] |
