A recent study conducted at the First Affiliated Hospital in Zhejiang, China, explored the relationship between serum leptin (LP) levels and polysomnography (PSG) parameters in patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). The study found that serum LP levels were positively correlated with certain PSG parameters, such as micro-arousal count and high apnea hypopnea index, and negatively correlated with lowest nocturnal oxygen saturation and mean oxygen saturation. The researchers concluded that serum LP levels are associated with the severity of OSAHS and have a strong predictive value for its occurrence, particularly in individuals with high micro-arousal index (MAI).
