A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Siena in Italy explored the effects of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) on patients with sensorineural hearing loss (SHL). The study found that rTMS treatment over the auditory cortex improved speech intelligibility and pure tone reception skills in SHL patients. The effects of the treatment were observed immediately after the treatment and continued to be present one week later. This research suggests that rTMS may be a promising intervention for individuals with SHL to enhance their speech perception abilities. [Extracted from the article] |
