Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by Northwestern University examined the relationship between food allergy reaction severity, management, and race and ethnicity. The study analyzed data from a diverse group of 784 children with food allergies and found that non-Hispanic Black children had increased odds of more severe reactions and higher odds of going to the emergency room. Both non-Hispanic Black and Hispanic/Latino children had lower rates of total lifetime epinephrine use. The study highlights significant disparities in the severity and treatment of food allergy reactions based on race and ethnicity, suggesting the need for resources and tools to address these disparities.
