A study conducted at James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa, Florida, evaluated the effectiveness of a new wheelchair assistive technology called the StandBar. The study involved 11 power wheelchair users and their caregivers, who provided data on the device's impact on their ability to stand independently and their psychological well-being. The StandBar was found to promote independence, functionality, and psychological well-being for power wheelchair users, as well as reduce anxiety and burden of care for caregivers.
