A report from the Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran discusses the findings of a study on anxiety disorders, specifically post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in children and adolescents. The study aimed to evaluate the lifetime prevalence of PTSD, determine sociodemographic factors associated with PTSD, estimate comorbidity rates, and assess traumatic events in the non-PTSD and PTSD samples. The study found that the prevalence of PTSD was 0.6%, with higher rates among girls, older adolescents, and participants with unemployed or farmer fathers. Comorbidity rates were high, with PTSD frequently co-occurring with other psychiatric disorders. The study recommends further investigation using purposive sampling in a larger clinical population.
